Welcome back to playgroup after such a lovely week off celebrating the Queens Platinum Jubilee!

We hope you all had fun celebrating with Family and Friends. Before we broke for half term the children enjoyed a fantastic tea party with homemade scones and cupcakes all thanks to the hard work and planning of our brilliant staff. Each child received a special commemorative pin badge to keep and remember their time celebrating such a momentous occasion!

For some of you this will be your last half term with us before your child moves up to big school and what a busy time it will be!

Our Topic this half term is ‘People who help us’

This week we have had Police Officers visit us and talk to the children about how they help us. We also got to see the police car with its lights and sirens!

Next Week we will hopefully have a visit from the Fire Brigade, if they don’t get a call out!

Our Role Play areas will also be set out for People who help us. We currently have the hairdressers set up so we are sure you will all see the lovely hair styles the girls are coming home with!

School Transitions.

For those children moving up to school, parents should have had an invitation to come in and view their child’s transition documents that are given to their receiving school.

There are lots of different dates booked in with all of the local schools for the teachers to visit playgroup and the children to visit schools. You will be notified from your child’s receiving school on their different dates and from us if we are able to take the children on a visit. The dates will also be on the front door.

Uniform.

We have a new uniform supplier. If you require new uniform for September please ask a member of staff to show you our samples and to pass on an order form. The new clothing is much better quality and a lot more affordable.

Dressing for the weather

The weather has been very changeable as of late, whilst we can always live in hope that summer may finally arrive, we would like to remind you that we do take the children outside as much as possible, whatever the weather, so please ensure that they are dressed appropriately for the day. On sunny days, remember sunhats and to apply sun cream before they come to playgroup (any sun cream bought in for children who are here all day, please ensure this is clearly named, left on the lunch trolley and not in your child’s bag ). In wet weather remember coats and wellies. Please also ensure that your children’s footwear is suitable for a playgroup environment where children will be running, climbing around a lot of other children, unsuitable shoes can cause injuries.

Fundraising

Our ‘Rag Bag’ collection raised a whopping £144.00!! Many Thanks to everyone that donated unwanted clothing. This is a fantastic fundraising opportunity for us and we will be doing it again in the Autumn so keep hold of all your old clothes!

Our Shed totalizer currently stands at £400!!! Many thanks to all that have donated towards this. We still have a way to go so if you, your company or workplace would like to sponsor us please get in touch!

We are hoping to have a Tombola on our Concert Day. If you are able to donate some small prizes it would be much appreciated. Ideal items are children’s craft items, small toys, toiletries, sweets, small gift sets, teddies you get the idea ! We all have that last minute present box at home, have a rummage!!!
