February 2022 Newsletter

Welcome back to playgroup and welcome to our new children and their families. We hope you all enjoyed half term and managed to keep safe with all the storms we endured!

We have lots of fun activities planned for this half term with Mother’s Day and Easter just around the corner.

As we have been unable to arrange any large fundraising events due to the pandemic we will be organising a small Easter fundraiser so watch this space! We are a charity run playgroup and rely on fundraising to help us to continue to provide our children with the best equipment, activities and resources.

School Admissions

If your child is due to start school in September this year, you should have already applied for their place. Decisions will be coming your way from Tuesday 19th April direct from Norfolk County Council. During the summer term we liaise with the schools applicable to our children, arranging visits to the schools (covid depending) to make the transfer as smooth as we possibly can.

Parent & Keyperson Calls

Keypersons will be contact parents/carers week commencing 14th March to discuss each child’s progress and development at playgroup. Don’t worry if you miss the call we will keep trying ! Remember we are always available to talk to at any time.

Extra Sessions

After Easter lots of our children will become entitled to government funding. Amanda will be in contact with these parents over the coming weeks to discuss extra sessions.

Please name your child’s Lunchbox on the outside! Also water bottles need names.

Coats, jumpers, bags……. Everything needs a name please!!!

Lunch boxes.

Please do not put any Nut products or nut containing products into your child’s lunch box.

We have noticed quite a few children have a lot of sugary snacks in their lunch. Please do try to give your child varied healthy options.

An example of what a good lunch would be:

Yoghurts/Sugar Free Jellies/Custards

One packets of Crisps/Savoury snacks

A small fairy cake/biscuit/bar

Juice Carton/Squash/Water

With all of the children back, we are going through lots of food at snack time. Please can we ask all families to donate one item of snack per week for the group to share. This can be a bag of apples, bananas, a loaf of bread, crackers, pears, oranges, cucumber the list goes on, our children love snack time!!!!

Craft Supplies

We are always very appreciative of any craft supplies donated. We are looking for all things Easter if you have any items you can donate to us!

Pick Up Times

Please can you ensure that you are here to collect your child at the correct time.  If your child finishes playgroup at 3pm we expect your child to be collected at this time and no later. We do have a policy in place that if a parent continues to collect late a fine will be issued.

As you are aware we are a Charity Run Playgroup. Our constitution states that we must have a certain number of parents registered on the committee to be able to operate. We would love some more parents to join us. If you are interested in joining the playgroup committee and finding out about how your child’s setting is run, please get in touch with Julie Chettleburgh our chairperson on at rustyfastback@yahoo.com

Waiting List

Our waiting list for September is filling up fast. If you have a child reaching playgroup age or know of someone with a child looking for a playgroup please ask a member of staff for an application form.

Playgroup Clothing

Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing and footwear for playgroup. Wellies are not appropriate to wear indoors. Please also return any of our spare clothing/shoes sent home with your child.
